Terbinafine, also known as Lamisil is a synthetic antifungal developed by Novartis. Terbinafine is one of the stronger antifungals, and is taken orally. It stays in your body’s fat, skin, hair, and nails. Lamisil is only available by a prescription, and should be used only according to your doctor and pharmacist’s recommendation. Using it on your own can be very dangerous. For more information about Terbinafine please see http://www.rxlist.com/lamisil-drug.htm.
I would personally not use Terbinafine for Candida treatment except as a last resort. There are many other solutions, besides going with the harsh prescription antifungals. Terbinafine has such side effects such as flu like symptoms, sores, joint pain, swelling, weight loss, hearing problems, and severe skin reactions (sore throat, swelling, fever, skin pain, rashes). These are just some of the potential side effects, and the side effects should not be worse than the initial issue.
If you are looking to treat Candida, the most important thing is a diet. Even if you use Terbinafine, there is always Candida in your body, it’s necessary and aids with digestion. If you have Candida, there is likely to be overgrowth unless you take care of your body from the start.
